Khrystian Nicole Briggs – The life, the legend

 You’d be hard pressed to find a single student at Go Dance who doesn’t know Khrysi. Although no one can spell her name, they all know she’s the one to greet them (by name) at the door, she’s the one to call if you need something, and she has the greatest laugh in the studio. Come along as I take you on a short journey into the head of Khrysi Briggs.

 How a girl born and raised in Sealy, TX (yes, as in the mattress) came to be a mover and shaker with some of Austin’s biggest bands and one of Go Dance’s MVPs is still unknown. Growing up participating in every sport she could, Khrysi pulled down several records and awards in Track & Field. The self-proclaimed tomboy moved to Austin in 2000 for school and went to work as a nanny. Tired of chasing around kids all day she answered an ad for receptionist at Arthur Murray and was introduced to the world of ballroom dancing and her first skirt and pair of heels. Little did she know, running after kids and running around after dance instructors proved to be very similar work…

Khrysi has been working at Go Dance for the last 2 years as one of the studio managers and worked at Arthur Murray in the same capacity for 5 years before that. Needless to say… she’s great at what she does. Her effervescent personality and impeccable people skills makes her perfectly suited for her other ‘job’ – an Event Coordinator for South By Southwest, one of Austin’s largest live music festivals. One of Khrysi’s greatest loves in life is live music. When she’s not at the studio you can bet you’ll find her at one of the many local live music hot spots hanging with the band. Her music collection is unimaginable, containing everything from the Beatles to Radiohead. When she finishes her degree in Radio, Television and Film she’ll be set to storm the music world from behind the scenes.

But until then she’s wowing people with her Showcase performance in West Coast Swing with yours truly and keeping the wheels of Go Dance turning. What’s her favorite part about working here? “Going to work everyday with my best friends. The crazy kids that work here are so entertaining, I love it!” So remember kids, if she’s chasing you down to put on your name tag or jumping in the random group class to help out, she’s just doin’ her job and doin’ it well.
