Kristy Watson

Go Dance Studio Manager

Dancing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  Growing up I took Lyrical, Jazz, Ballet and Tap dancing.  I have performed in the theatre and made a few gospel recordings – singing used to be one of my great loves.  I was the director of the “Soul Expressions” dance company at a local church for 14 years.

When I sustained a severe back injury, it prevented me from doing the strenuous dance workouts and leaps required of ballet and jazz.  Somehow, I survived five years without dance of any kind and when my doctor finally gave me the OK to slowly return to physical activity again, I immediately started seeking a new dance outlet.  A ballroom dance studio opened 2 blocks from where I worked.I had never tried partner dancing before, however, my doctor said that ballroom dancing would be great therapy for my back, and as they say, the rest is history.  Not only was I able to go back to doing what I love best, dancing, but in that same year I met the love of my life on the dance floor – my amazing husband and dance partner, Carson Watson.

It’s difficult to choose a favorite style of dance when you love them all so much – whether graceful or funky, dance is a form of self-expression that comes straight from the soul – and I do enjoy expressing myself. It’s a great stress reliever.  When Carson and I are not working at the studio or attending a studio event.  You can find us about town social dancing to West Coast Swing, Ballroom or Country.

When I’m not on the dance floor I enjoy scuba diving, working in my garden and creating my own home decorative creations (poor Carson).  But honestly, I cannot think of a single thing I’d rather be doing than dancing!  Life is too short!  I can do all that other stuff when I can’t dance anymore.

"It's great to be in a studio based on "inclusion" rather than "exclusion"; where ownership and staff are open to feedback, suggestions and answering questions."
