Ballroom – Latin – Swing – Country Western – Wedding

Full Time Instructor

Some might say I’m a rare find these days – a true Austinite.  I was born right here in Austin, Texas and haven’t left yet.  Well, I did spend a year down the road in Alpine, Texas.  Maybe that’s where I get my country roots from…

I originally started dancing in country western bars around Austin as a teen, but never expected I’d one day be an instructor.  (As a matter of fact, I lacked so much grace that as a kid, there were concerns about my coordination!)  One day in 1999, when I was managing a furniture store, I happened across an ad for an Arthur Murray that was training new dance instructors.  I was ready for a change of pace, so I decided to try it out – and it was love at first sight.  Maybe it’s the body rolls that got me, or maybe I was just happy that all that coordination training I got doing equestrian trick riding was finally paying off, but nevertheless I was hooked immediately.  Over the years my favorite dance has become West Coast Swing – it’s just so dang sexy!  And the blues and R & B music that founded West Coast Swing are amazing.

If you see me in my car around the studio, don’t be surprised if you hear the opening notes to “Enter Sandman” blaring out the window – I love Metallica, their Black album is the best.  In my downtime I like to cook (I’m addicted to the Food Network) and relax at home with my boyfriend and my dog.  Dancers get asked a lot, “What would you do if you weren’t a dance instructor?”.  Well, I’m sure I’d be torturing people in some other profession.  Long live Queen Liz!
