Naomi L. Rieger
Ballroom – Latin – Swing – Country – Wedding
Full-Time Instructor
I was born and raised in New Orleans, and after doing some traveling, settled in Austin in 2005. Many of the interests I have pursued in my life have led to my love of ballroom dancing – modern dance, modeling and acting all contributed to my choice to become a dance instructor. Also, I am a California Certified Ananda Yoga Instructor. But in the end, ballroom dancing is where my love lies. The movement and expression that comes from music and rhythm brings my soul to life, as if I am aligned with the universe. I recently have enjoyed dancing in showcases and doing exhibition-style performances, and look forward to competing in the future. While I have a love of all dances for their different qualities, I’d have to lean towards the rhythm dances as a favorite of mine. I love to dance to Latin and Brazilian music, and anything that’s not too mainstream - the music almost moves you all by itself. Also, many of you might be surprised to know that I even own some old country albums like Patsy Cline and George Straight.
When I’m not dancing, I love learning about people and other cultures – it’s fascinating to me! In fact, if I wasn’t a Dance Instructor, I’d probably be a Travel/Guide Reporter, like on the Travel Channel. My philosophy on life is this: Life is meant to be enjoyed. The world is my playground, and I am here to spread love and light. Now, being a Dance Instructor gives me a vehicle in which to do so!
