Ever since having my two beautiful babies, Christopher and Jade, the idea of having hobbies has pretty much gone down the drain. They keep me very busy, and are unfortunately already showing signs of their mother's rebellious streak (I keep it under control at work, but I definitely have a crazy streak - blame it on my Torre blood!) I am, however, very lucky to have an amazing husband, Willie, who has changed more diapers than I can count. Thanks babe!
In another stroke of luck, in 2003 my older sister Laura was working at Go Dance (at its old location) when a position opened up in their office. I had always wanted to learn how to dance, and loved watching other people dance, so I jumped at the chance to be around music and dancing all day. I'm especially drawn to the Latin and Rhythm dances; I love the music and the movement that it creates. I mean, come on - Cuban Motion is so sexy!
While I only work at Go Dance part-time, I get to meet new and interesting people all the time! And I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you who escape the Front Desk without a name tag every night - watching Khrysi chase you down is the highlight of my day! I know, it's a little weird, but as you'll see, things have always gone a little differently for me than other people.
My slightly unconventional life began not in a hospital, but with my birth in my parents' car on the way to their midwife. I spent my childhood as a beach baby, living in Port Isabel, South Padre Island and Mexico. In my high school years, I was never really interested in sports, so I got involved in UIL: C/X Debate, Persuasive & Informative Speaking and Computer Science. I guess I was what you'd call a "hot nerd". Those interests probably had a lot to do with my desire to be a school teacher growing up (I'd much rather teach dance than kids now), and my current field of study at the University of Texas, MIS, which satisfies my interest in computers.
Life is pretty good these days; thanks to my sister Laura, who made my first summer in Austin seven years ago so much fun I never wanted to leave, I have an amazing job in a city I love. I have even recently started taking Kuk Sool Won classes, which is a form of Korean Martial Arts. On nice nights, you can find me on a patio around town, sipping purple margaritas with the people I love.
