Part Time Instructor
I’m a happy-go-lucky, jack-of-all-trades, A.D.D. child of the 80’s. I love everything about life; I love experiencing new things, and especially meeting new people. I’m just as happy in a philosophical conversation as I am in a game of Twister.
I moved to Austin in 1998 from San Antonio to attend school, and just graduated with a B.A. in English. So obviously, the next logical step was to become a dance instructor! I started dancing a little over seven years ago when I followed a cute girl to my first dance and fell in love right there (to my surprise, with the dancing, not the girl!). Soon after, I joined the Austin Swing Syndicate where I studied East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, and Blues Styles. Blues dancing quickly became my favorite because of the connection you have with your partner and how much freedom there is within the framework of the dance to create your own art. Some of those same things are what drew me to dancing in the first place – the connection and communication, the conversation without a word, the art you create with your partner as you glide across the floor. So after nearly a decade of dancing casually, I’ve come to Go Dance to pursue it as a career, and hopefully begin competition soon.
Some of my favorite hobbies, rollerblading, ice skating and skiing, have all contributed to the balance and control required of dancers. I have been lucky over the years to have chosen activities that have been invaluable to my dance career. And I’m not the type of person who can just sit around with nothing to do, so when I’m not here at the studio or at the restaurant I work part-time at, I’m hiking, cooking, camping or playing games with friends. When the weekend rolls around, you can find me in the hip-hop and techno clubs downtown just losing myself in the music.
