Part Time Instructor
Some might say I’m an exercise in contradiction. I work part-time as a dance instructor, and as a second profession I am a Human Resource Specialist in the Army National Guard. I started dancing at Go Dance as a student in 2000, and enjoyed it so much that I inquired about being an instructor. Since then I’ve been hooked! I love that I can step onto the dance floor and feel like I’m in a different world, one where I can express myself freely. Most of all, I love the Rhythm dances. The variety of music that Rhythm dances encompass is amazing – salsa is my favorite. Surprisingly, I also like a lot of Techno/Trance/Electronic music; I own several CD’s from those genres.
I am originally from Austin, and have lived here for the last seven years. Growing up I took karate classes, and played alto sax in high school - I even performed some outside gigs. Prior to working at Go Dance, I spent six years working as a professional cake decorator – that’s actually what I’d be doing now if I wasn’t teaching dance. I am currently Bronze Level certified in both the Smooth and Rhythm dances, and look forward to obtaining my Silver and Gold Levels in the near future. When I’m not dancing, I love to just hang out with my family and friends, or jog and feed the ducks on Town Lake on a nice day.
