While it may seem like I live at the dance studio now, I literally grew up in a barn. As a matter of fact, when I was seven years old, my dream was to be a horse veterinarian and to own an equestrian training facility. Needless to say, things have changed.
I was born and raised in Beavercreek, Oregon (it's OK, everyone laughs after I say that). Growing up, I dedicated most of my time to my favorite hobby, showing horses and being involved in horse 4-H. My friends and family back home would be shocked to see me in anything other than a pair of breeches, spurs and a baseball cap growing up. Then, a few years ago, I found something I was even more passionate about - dance.
I moved to Austin in January 2007 to attend the University of Texas and to pursue my new love, dance. I began working at Go Dance part-time when I moved here so that I could be surrounded by what I love all day. Since moving here, my life has been consumed by three things - school, work and dance (I currently compete in American Smooth). In my little free time (and I mean VERY little), I go to the gym or hang out with my roommates or that crazy woman Khrysi.
I've really enjoyed working at Go Dance so far - I love getting to know all the new students, and I've met some really amazing people here. After a long day of making people wear that dreaded "Name Tag", my favorite way to wind down the day is to dance. Once I turn the stereo on, it's just me and the music. I even sing and dance in my car - but I tend to forget that people can see me, which, trust me, has made for some pretty embarrassing moments!
